Texas Space Commission Awards Grant to KULR Technologies Group, Inc.

Austin, TX - The Texas Space Commission (TSC) announced a Space Exploration & Aeronautics Research Fund (SEARF) grant of up to $6,703,500 has been awarded to KULR Technology Group, Inc. to develop a high-energy lithiumion battery pack designed for in-space use.

Headquartered in Webster, KULR is a leader in thermal management solutions and battery safety technologies. The funding will enable KULR to design and test batteries that perform reliably in the harsh conditions of space - including extreme cold, vacuum, and radiation - and deliver a flight-ready battery module for integration into future space flight missions.

The project timeline is two years. The objectives included:

• Develop a cylindrical-format lithium-ion cell: May 2025 – March 2027;
• Demonstrate safety of cells constructed with South8 Li-gas: July 2025 – November 2026;
• Develop KULR ONE Space battery architecture: July 2025 – December 2026; and
• Design, develop, and fly a CubeSat for a demonstration mission: July 2025 – August 2027.

These milestones will enable KULR to deliver flight-ready battery systems that support both commercial industries and national security space operations. The SEARF grant will reimburse KULR for eligible expenditures such as equipment, research and development, salaries, as well as other direct costs associated with the project
