Texas Space Commission Board Convenes to Adopt an Order and Receive TARSEC Report
Austin, TX – Today, during an Open Meeting, the Texas Space Commission (TSC) board of directors met to discuss initiatives regarding civil, commercial, and military space activities.
The Board adopted a Standing Order per Section 482.107(a)(8) of the Texas Government Code, regarding authority for temporary closures to promote space-related industries, promote economic development, and further Commission activities.
“As we continue to expand the space ecosystem in Texas, today’s meeting reflects our commitment to supporting safe, responsible growth,” said TSC Chair Gwen Griffin. “This was an important statutory duty for the TSC Board to address as we advance space flight activities and ensure safety.”
Following the Open Meeting, the Board convened in a Closed Meeting pursuant to Section 551.092 of the Texas Open Meetings Act for deliberation regarding the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) and NASA, as well as economic incentives designed to strengthen Texas’ strategic position in national security and space exploration.
The TSC Board revised a previously approved Space Exploration & Aeronautics Research Fund (SEARF) grant proposal during their meeting. In previous Open Meetings the TSC Board has conditionally approved 22 projects with a combined total of $126 million in grants awarded.
