Texas Space Commission Awards Grant to Fluxworks Inc.

Austin, TX - The Texas Space Commission (TSC) announced a Space Exploration & Aeronautics Research Fund (SEARF) grant of up to $347,000 has been awarded to Fluxworks Inc. for its “Noncontact Magnetic Gear in Microgravity” project.

This project intends to advance breakthrough technology designed for powering spacecraft and orbital platforms. Based in Conroe, Fluxworks develops high-efficiency, noncontact magnetic gear systems that reduce wear and increase reliability as well as improve performance in demanding environments. This project will also provide critical data for applications in satellites, space stations, and deep-space exploration vehicles.

The project timeline is set to take place over two years. The objectives included with this grant agreement are:

• Microgravity Research for Versatile Investigations (MaRVIn) platform: May 2025 – November 2025;
• Science Tray Assembly (STA): December 2025 – May 2026;
• Secure Certification of Flight Readiness (CoFR): June 2026 – December 2026;

These milestones will enable Fluxworks to demonstrate the viability of noncontact magnetic gearing for space applications. The SEARF grant will reimburse Fluxworks for eligible expenditures, such as equipment, research and development, salaries, and other direct costs associated with the project
