Texas Space Commission Awards Grant to Aegis Aerospace, Inc.

Austin, TX - The Texas Space Commission (TSC) announced a Space Exploration & Aeronautics Research Fund (SEARF) grant of up to $10,000,000 has been awarded to Aegis Aerospace, Inc. to design and develop a space-flight ready Advanced Materials Manufacturing Platform (AMMP). 

Headquartered in Houston, Aegis Aerospace provides end-to-end spaceflight services, including the design and operation of payload platforms aboard the International Space Station (ISS). This project will expand Aegis Aerospace’s capacity to conduct experiments and demonstrations in orbit - creating new opportunities for Texas 
researchers, entrepreneurs, and government partners to access space for science and innovation.

The project timeline is two years. The objectives for this grant agreement include: 

• Complete systems requirements review: September 2025 – April 2026; 
• Complete critical design review: May 2026 – October 2026; 
• Fabricate and assemble flight hardware: June 2026 – January 2027; and
• Complete systems acceptance review: May 2027 – August 2027.

These milestones will allow Aegis Aerospace to deliver more research and demonstration capacity for Texas. The SEARF grant will reimburse Aegis Aerospace for eligible expenditures such as equipment, research and development, salaries, and other direct costs associated with the project.
