NASA Names Texas Space Commission One of Seven State Hubs for Skilled Technical Workforce
NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement (OSTEM) has awarded the Texas Space Commission (TSC) one of seven cooperative agreements nationwide under its Aerospace Skilled Technical Workforce Hubs initiative. The seven awardees share $10.5 million in NASA funding.
Through the three-year effort, TSC will serve as NASA’s focal point for coordinating employers, education and training providers, workforce organizations and economic-development partners across the Lone Star State to address technical talent needed for future space missions as well as the broader aerospace industry.
TSC will establish and lead the Texas Space STEM Alliance (TSSA), a coordinated network that links K–12 career and technical education, community and technical colleges, higher education, regional workforce boards, and aerospace employers. The alliance’s Texas Aerospace Pathways Plus (TAP+) portal is planned to map training programs and regional gaps as well as serve as a registry of internships, apprenticeships, employment opportunities and scholarships.
NASA State Hubs are funded by NASA’s Office of STEM Engagement through its Next Gen STEM Project.
